About Us

The Hampton Roads Hispanic Chamber of Commerce began operations on May 31st, 2003 as the Peninsula Tidewater Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. On May 20, 2005 the organization emerged as the Hampton Roads Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to better serve the Hispanic business community in Hampton Roads.

During the fall of 2002, a coalition of Hispanic women envisioned an organization that would connect Hispanic owned business to the growing business community. The Hampton Roads Hispanic Chamber of Commerce began operations on May 31st, 2003 as the Peninsula Tidewater Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. On May 20, 2005 the organization emerged as the Hampton Roads Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. The goal was to provide Hispanic businesses the opportunity to enter the non-Hispanic consumer base and educate non-Hispanic business owners, of the great economic impact the fastest growing population will have in the near future. After much research and deliberation, it was decided that a Hispanic Chamber of Commerce would be the best avenue to accomplish these goals.

OUR FOUNDERS

On May 31, 2003, a group of visionary women officially gave birth to the Peninsula Tidewater Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, also known as the Hampton Roads Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, since 2005.  On Friday, December 6, 2013 we celebrated this wonderful milestone for our Chamber and to honor these pioneers at our Ten Year Anniversary Gala, held at the Hampton Roads Convention Center. We salute our Founders and recognize them for their foresight, courage and determination for building the foundation of  “OUR”  Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
